Instructions
Loosen the cover on the front fork

To remove the front wheel, start with the front fork cover. You'll find the screws you need at the joint where the two sides meet.
Remove the screws behind the reflectors

There are additional screws behind the two reflectors. Remove these as well so that you can completely remove the cover.
Disengage the drum brake

Next, disengage the drum brake. To do this, loosen the drum brake adjustment screw.
Work carefully so that you don't damage any parts of the brake mechanism.
Remove the front wheel
If you loosen both nuts now, you can remove the front wheel and pick it up.
Set all the disassembled parts aside in an orderly fashion so that nothing is missing when you put them back together.
Clean or Replace the Drum Brake
Once you've removed the front wheel, you can replace the drum brake with a new one or clean it.
To do this, open the drum brake and wipe it out thoroughly. Never use greasy or soapy cleaners. A brake cleaner along with paper towels works best.
Prepare the tire and completely deflate it
To change a tire or inner tube, remove the tire and place it on a sturdy surface or carefully secure it. Be careful not to damage the axle.
Generously apply mounting compound to the tire and completely deflate it.
Remove the tire from the rim and take out the tube
Carefully place the tire lever against the tire and pry the tire off the rim little by little. Then unscrew the valve and remove the tube.
If necessary, clean the inside of the rim as well before installing the new parts.
Install a new inner tube or tire
Insert a new tube and make sure it isn't twisted. Apply mounting compound to the rim and the new tire again.
Use the tire levers to mount the new tire back onto the rim.
Inflate the tires and finish the installation
Inflate the tire to about 3.5 bar using the air compressor. Then, if necessary, let some air out until the desired pressure is reached.
Then remove all traces of the assembly paste.
Reinstall the front wheel and drum brake
Reinstall the front wheel in the reverse order. Tighten both nuts, reattach the drum brake, and reinstall the cover on the front fork.
Finally, check to make sure all screws are tight and that the brake is working properly.
Check the result
After assembly, check to make sure that all relevant parts are installed correctly and are working properly. Pay particular attention to ensuring that the front wheel is securely fastened, that the drum brake is functioning properly, and that the tire is inflated to the correct pressure.
Frequently Asked Questions
Here you'll find answers to frequently asked questions about this repair.
Can I just clean the drum brake instead of replacing it?
Yes, if the drum brake isn't damaged or severely worn, it may be a good idea to clean it thoroughly with brake cleaner. Do not use any lubricating or soapy cleaners.
What should I keep in mind when installing a new hose?
Make sure the tube isn't twisted when you insert it and that it doesn't get pinched when you mount the tire. Otherwise, it could be damaged right away.
What should I do if the brake doesn't work properly after I've put it back together?
Check again to make sure the drum brake is properly engaged and adjusted. If the braking performance is still not right, have the VMAX E-Scooter inspected E-Scooter a service center.
