Replace valve

Replacing the Valve

In this guide, we will show you step by step how to replace the valve on the tire of your VMAX e-scooter yourself.

Model All Models
Time Required approx. 20–30 minutes
Difficulty Advanced

Required Tools

  • 14mm Wrench
  • 17mm Wrench
  • Tire Lever
  • Pliers
  • Optional: Assembly Paste or Lubricant
  • Optional: Compressor
  • Optional: 3 Cable Ties
Make sure your VMAX e-scooter is turned off before starting. Work on a stable surface and have all tools ready at hand.

Instructions

1

Prepare the Wheel

Completely loosen the brake cable with the 14mm wrench. Then, use the 17mm wrench to loosen the wheel nuts on both sides and carefully pull the wheel out.

Removing tire from rim

Remove the spacers. If you want to replace the valve on the front wheel, also remove the drum brake.

Removing tire from rim

Then place the wheel on a stable surface or carefully secure it in a vice. Be careful not to damage the axle or cable outlet.

2

Prepare the Tire and Release Air

If necessary, apply some assembly paste or lubricant around the tire.

Then completely release the air from the tire before proceeding to the next step.

3

Separate Tire from Rim

First, use tire levers to loosen one side of the tire from the rim. Carefully insert the lever on the tire and work your way around until one side of the tire is completely detached.

Removing tire from rim

Once one side of the tire is loosened, you can remove the rim entirely from the tire with some force.

Be careful while doing this to avoid unnecessarily damaging the tire and rim.

4

Remove Old Valve and Insert New One

Grab the old valve with pliers or a similar tool and pull it out of the rim.

Removing valve

Then apply some lubricant to the valve hole. Insert the new valve from the inside out through the opening and pull it slightly out until it fits snugly.

5

Reassemble the Tire

Preparing wheel with assembly paste

Prepare the tire and rim again with some assembly paste or lubricant. Reinsert the rim into the tire and then mount the tire back onto the rim using the tire levers.

Mounting wheel

Tip: If you pull one side of the tire together with 3 cable ties, it often makes it much easier to lever the tire onto the rim.

6

Inflate Tire and Check Fit

First, inflate the tire with a compressor to about 3.0 bar. If necessary, release some air afterward to set the correct pressure.

Check if the tire holds air and whether the valve sits correctly. If no air escapes, the valve is properly mounted.

Afterward, remove any remnants of the assembly paste or lubricant.

7

Reattach the Wheel

Then reattach the wheel to the VMAX e-scooter and correctly reinstall all removed parts, such as spacers and, if necessary, the drum brake.

Tighten all fastenings securely and check the correct fit of the wheel again before riding.

When assembling, ensure that all screws are properly seated and no cables are pinched or damaged.

Check Results

After reassembly, check if the valve is sealed, if the tire holds air pressure, and if the wheel is correctly mounted. Pay special attention to the secure fit of all loosened parts and the free rotation of the wheel.

Test your VMAX e-scooter cautiously in a stationary position or over a short distance after the repair, before using it normally in everyday life.

Frequently Asked Questions

Here you will find answers to common questions about this repair.

What do I do if the tire is difficult to remove from the rim?

Work evenly with the tire levers and use some assembly paste or lubricant if necessary. Avoid applying too much force to a single point to prevent damaging the tire and rim.

How do I know if the new valve is seated correctly?

The valve should sit cleanly and firmly in the rim. After inflating, no air should escape. If the tire holds pressure, the valve is usually correctly mounted.

Can I stop the repair if I am unsure during reinstallation?

Yes. If you are unsure about any step or if something does not seem properly assembled, you should not force the repair. In this case, we recommend having the VMAX e-scooter checked by a service center.

If you are unsure or need help, our local service teams are ready to assist you.
