In this guide, we'll show you step by step how to replace the controller (electronics) on your VMAX E-Scooter .
Tools Required
- 2.5 mm Allen wrench
- 3 mm Allen wrench
- 3.5 mm Allen wrench
- Phillips screwdriver
- Replacement Part: Controller / Electronics
- Optional: Spray adhesive or a suitable adhesive for the Rubberdeck
Instructions
Remove the rubber mat
First, carefully remove the Rubberdeck from the running board so you can access the service hatch.
Work slowly to avoid damaging the Rubberdeck.
Open the service door
Remove all six 2.5 mm Allen screws on the service door.
Next, open the service flap in the running board.
Disconnect electrical connections
First, disconnect the cable connecting the electronics to the battery.
Next, carefully disconnect the connectors on the wiring harness.
Tip:
Take a photo of the wiring before connecting the cables. That way, when you reassemble the device, you'll be able to see exactly which connector goes where.
Loosen the side cover
Use a 3.5 mm Allen wrench to loosen the two screws on both sides of the footrest.
Also use a Phillips-head screwdriver to remove the screws under the footrest.
Disconnect the turn signal and charging port
Carefully detach the Rubberdeck from the edge of the footrest.
Next, pull out the side cover.
Disconnect the connectors from both turn signals and the charging port.
Disconnect the engine cables
Next, remove the rear cover on the right side of the vehicle. Loosen the 3 screws using a 3 mm Allen wrench.
Disconnect the motor cable and carefully pull it out toward the electronics.
Remove the controller
Loosen the two nuts on the electronics side that secure the controller.
Then carefully remove the controller from the housing.
Install a New Controller
Insert the new controller into the housing and position it correctly.
Then secure it again with the two nuts.
Reconnect the cables
Now reconnect all the cables you disconnected earlier.
These include, among other things, connectors for:
- Engine
- Turn signal
- charging port
- Wiring harness
- Battery connection
Make sure that all connectors are fully inserted.
Perform a functional check
Before you lock the E-Scooter completely, check that it's working properly.
Turn E-Scooter the E-Scooter and check the following functions:
- Throttle
- Taillight
- Left and right turn signals
- Engine Function
If everything is working properly, you can begin assembly.
Reassembling E-Scooter
First, reattach the side panel on the right side of the vehicle.
Then close the service door using the six 2.5 mm Allen screws.
Next, reposition the Rubberdeck correctly on the footboard.
If necessary, you can use some spray adhesive or a suitable adhesive to reattach the Rubberdeck securely.
