In this guide, we will show you step by step how to replace the controller (electronics) on your VMAX e-scooter yourself.
Tools required
- 2.5 mm Allen key
- 3 mm Allen key
- Spare part: Controller / electronics
- Optional: Spray adhesive or suitable adhesive for the rubber deck
Instructions
Removing the rubber deck
First carefully remove the rubber deck from the footboard so that you have access to the service flap.
Work slowly so that the rubber deck is not damaged.
Opening the service flap
Remove all six 2.5 mm Allen screws and then open the service flap in the footboard.
Disconnect electrical connections
First disconnect the cable from the electronics to the battery.
Then carefully pull the plugs of the wiring harness apart.
Tip:
Take a photo of the wiring before disconnecting the cables. This way you can see exactly which plug belongs in which position when reassembling.
Disconnect other cable connections
Remove the side covers of the footrest and disconnect the left and right blinker cables and the charging socket.
Carefully pull the blinker cables out towards the front.
Then loosen the rear cover on the right-hand side of the vehicle using a 3 mm Allen key.
Disconnect the motor cable and carefully pull it out towards the electronics.
Removing the controller
Loosen the two nuts on the side of the electronics that secure the controller.
Then carefully remove the controller from the housing.
Insert new controller
Insert the new controller into the housing and position it correctly.
Then secure it again with the two nuts.
Reconnect the cable connections
Now reconnect all previously disconnected cables.
This includes the plug connections for:
- Engine
- indicators
- Charging socket
- wiring harness
- Battery connection
Make sure that all plug connections are fully inserted.
Carry out a function check
Before you completely close the e-scooter again, carry out a function check.
Switch on the e-scooter and check the following functions:
- Throttle lever
- Rear light
- Left and right indicators
- Motor function
If everything works correctly, you can start assembling.
Reassembling the e-scooter
First reattach the side cover on the right-hand side of the vehicle.
Then close the service flap with the six 2.5 mm Allen screws.
Then reposition the rubber deck correctly on the footboard.
If necessary, you can use some spray adhesive or suitable glue to securely fasten the rubber deck again.

Do I have to adjust anything after replacing the controller?
Usually not. If all cables are connected correctly, the controller should work immediately.
What should I do if a plug connection is difficult to disconnect?
Always pull plugs apart straight and without force. If necessary, move them slightly back and forth to loosen them.
