Changing Tires

In this guide, we will show you step by step how to change the tire on your VMAX e-scooter yourself.

Model All VMAX models
Time required approx. 20–30 minutes
Difficulty Advanced

Required Tools

  • 14 mm wrench
  • 17 mm wrench
  • Tire lever
  • Pliers
  • Optional: installation paste or lubricant
  • Optional: compressor
  • Optional: 3 cable ties
Before starting, ensure that your VMAX e-scooter is turned off. Work on a stable surface and have all tools ready at hand.

Instructions

1

Prepare the Wheel

Fully loosen the brake cable with the 14 mm wrench. Then, using the 17 mm wrench, loosen the wheel nuts on both sides and carefully pull the wheel out.

Loosen tire from rim

Remove the spacers and take out the drum brake.

Then place the wheel on a stable surface or secure it gently. Be careful not to damage the axle or the cable outlet.

2

Prepare the Tire and Release Air

If necessary, apply some installation paste or lubricant around the tire.

Then release all the air from the tire before proceeding to the next step.

3

Loosen Tire from the Rim

First, use tire levers to loosen one side of the tire from the rim. Carefully place the lever on the tire and work your way around slowly until one side of the tire is completely free.

Loosen tire from rim

Once one side of the tire is loose, you can carefully remove the rim from the tire using a bit of force.

Be cautious to avoid unnecessary damage to both the tire and the rim.

4

Reassemble Tire

Prepare wheel with installation paste

Prepare the tire and rim again with some installation paste or lubricant. Insert the rim back into the tire and then reinstall the tire onto the rim with the tire levers.

Mount wheel

Tip: If you pull one side of the tire together with 3 cable ties, it often makes it significantly easier to pry the tire onto the rim.

5

Inflate Tire and Check Fit

First, inflate the tire with a compressor to approximately 3.0 Bar. If necessary, then release some air to adjust the correct pressure.

Check if the tire holds air and is correctly seated.

After that, remove any residues of installation paste or lubricant.

6

Reassemble Wheel

Then reattach the wheel to the VMAX e-scooter and correctly insert all removed parts like spacers and drum brake.

Secure all fasteners tightly and check the correct fit of the wheel before riding.

Be careful during assembly to ensure that all screws are properly fitted, and no cables are pinched or damaged.

Check Result

After assembly, check if the tire holds the air pressure and if the wheel is mounted correctly. Pay special attention to the secure fit of all loosened parts as well as the free rotation of the wheel.

Test your VMAX e-scooter carefully first in a standstill or on a short distance before using it normally in everyday life.
