In this guide, we'll show you, step by step, how to replace the display on your VMAX E-Scooter Hub, VX2 Gear, or VX8 E-Scooter VX8 .

Before you begin, make sure your VMAX E-Scooter is E-Scooter . Work on a stable surface and have all your tools within easy reach.

Release the brakes

First, loosen the nut on the drum brake cable using a 14 mm wrench.

Next, loosen the rear brake using a 5 mm Allen wrench.

Remove the brake cables from the brake levers

Carefully remove the brake cables from the brake levers so that the headset can be easily removed later.

Loosen the steering head

Loosen the four steering head bolts with a 3 mm Allen wrench. There are two bolts in the front and two in the back.

Next, carefully pull out the entire steering head and disconnect the display cable from the wiring harness.

Remove the headlight

Use a 2.5 mm Allen wrench to loosen the screw on the front light. The screw is located on the left side of the light cover when facing the direction of travel.

Then carefully remove the heat-shrink tubing with a utility knife and unplug the light cable.

Loosen the two screws in the light cover with a 3 mm Allen wrench and carefully remove the light cover.

Disconnect the connectors

Separate connectors in the steering head

Carefully remove all heat-shrink tubing, and then disconnect all connectors.

Tip: Take a photo before disconnecting the connectors. That way, you'll know exactly which cable goes where when you reassemble everything.

A total of six connectors will be disconnected during this step. Work carefully to avoid damaging any pins.

Separate the handlebars from the head

Use a 5 mm Allen wrench to loosen the four screws that connect the handlebars to the head tube.

Be especially careful not to damage any cables. Then carefully disconnect the handlebar from the head.

Remove the old display

Loosen the four Phillips-head screws on the display and remove them completely.

Then carefully pull the display out of the mount.

Install the new display

Carefully insert the new display into the mount. The cable that runs through the front bar to the wiring harness is black with a green connector.

Run the other cables out where the light will be mounted later. Then tighten the four cross-head screws hand-tight again.

Reinstall the handlebars

Put the handlebars back on the stem, making sure no cables are in the way.

Align everything properly so that the four 5-mm Allen screws can be reinserted correctly, and tighten them by hand.

Reconnect the connectors

Now reconnect all the connectors. Work carefully so that no pins are damaged.

If available, reseal the connections with heat-shrink tubing.

Tuck the cable into the head

Carefully push all the cables back into the head. Leave the light cable outside for now.

Make sure that no cables are kinked or pinched.

Install the light cover

Position the light cover correctly and feed the light cable neatly into place.

Next, tighten both 3 mm Allen screws and secure the light cover.

Reinstall the headlight

Plug the light back in. If you have one, slide a heat-shrink tube over the connection again.

Carefully insert the light cone into the light cover without damaging the cables, and secure the light with the 2.5 mm Allen screw.

Reinstall the steering head

Reinsert the wiring harness and carefully place the steering head onto the handlebars.

Make sure that no cables are damaged or pinched. Then tighten the four steering head bolts using the 3 mm Allen wrench.

Thread the brake cable and adjust the brakes

Thread the brake cables back into the brake levers in a crisscross pattern.

Finally, adjust both brakes properly and check their operation carefully.

When assembling the unit, make sure that all screws are tightened properly and that no cables are pinched or damaged.

Check the result

After reassembly, check to make sure the new display is properly seated and that all connectors are securely connected. Also check to make sure the headlight is working and that both brakes are properly adjusted.

E-Scooter the repair, turn on your VMAX E-Scooter and first check the display, lights, and brakes while the scooter is stationary. Only then should you take it for a short, cautious test ride.
